# Why do Olympic Pin NFTs cost money?

## If the item is a digital representation of an Olympic pin, can’t I just download it from the Internet? Why does it cost money?

### **It's just a digital representation of a Pin.** **Why does it cost money? I don't really get all this NFT stuff.**

Olympic Pin NFTs are registered on the blockchain. The blockchain not only serves to validate that your Olympic Pin NFT is genuine and is an officially licensed collectable product, it also proves that you alone are the rightful owner of the asset. By having true ownership of these digital assets, you are also empowered to sell these assets to others if you so wish.

The pins come in different rarities. For some designs, there are thousands of copies made. For others, such as legendary pins, there are very few. The scarcity can make those more valuable.
